Bio

Don’t get it twisted, Garrett Barnes is a substitute teacher, but when he’s not brightening children’s days with worksheets and threats of detention (he never actually gives anyone detention) he’s doing stand-up and improv comedy. He started doing comedy at the University of Virginia and soon became a regular at the Richmond and Virginia Beach Funny Bone Comedy Clubs. In 2014, he moved to New York, where he co-produced the Greenpoint Comedy Show, took classes at the Upright Citizen’s Brigade, and slept on an air mattress. Now he’s back in Virginia Beach, where he performs sketch and improv with Plan B, The Party Crashers, and The Gay Agenda. Garrett has performed at the Norfolk and Brooklyn Comedy Festivals.
